The Last Party Documentary
I have come to a conclusion that instead of filming an acoustic multi-camra shoot, I am going to do a documentary about a band. The band that I will be filming is The Last Party from Manchester. After directing a multi-camera studio session with the band I was asked to go to London with them to continue filming. I have got a lot of ideas how I am going to shoot the journey, and have already started planning out from shot lists for potential shots that I can look for. It is obvious that what the content of the film will include as it is about a band, but the way in which I shoot the film is key. I have looked at how different styles of documentary making can effect the aesthetic of the film. As I want the documentary to be based on the band I feel that if I take a fly on the wall approach I can create the effect that the band are oblivious to the camera, which will capture the natural atmosphere of the band. The correct name for this style of film making is observational, as it allows the audience to observe the band and make their own conclusion about the band.
